General Questions
Technical Questions
How does it work?
Our Pixel Arc Atom features a single high-speed spinning blade with RGB LED lights that rapidly change colors. Bright areas in your video appear solid, while dark areas become transparent.
Your eyes and brain work together to blend these moving lights into a full image, giving the appearance of a holographic effect.
Combined with videos designed to create a sense of depth, like a spinning 3D object, the fan produces a highly convincing floating 3D hologram effect.
Does it make a noise?
Unlike our Pixel Arc Luxa, the Atom produces very little noise, almost indistinguishable unless you are in a very quiet room. This sound is dampened even further when combined with the safety shield.
Additionally the Atom includes a built in speaker, so it will play the audio of any video you upload to it. This can also be muted or turned down using our app or remote.
Can I use it outdoors?
You can use it outdoors but generally only around Dawn and Dusk.
This is due to the infrared output of the sun which influences the orientation of the Atom. In the middle of the day it will be heavily affected causing the image to spin uncontrollably.
The image may also appear more washed out in brighter environments which is why it is really best suited for indoor or darker environments.
We recommend only using it indoors or around dawn and dusk.
Does it look as good in person?
It looks even better in person! The fan blades that you sometimes see on camera are completely invisible to the naked eye, we only see these on video recordings due to the shutter speed of the camera. In person it looks incredibly immersive!
What is the difference between the stands?
The Floating stand is our most universal stand, it's made from transparent acrylic and is designed to help produce a floating effect.
The Holopuck is our black sci fi inspired hologram emitter, 3D printed in black PETG filament.
The Holocom is our silver sci fi inspired hologram emitter, 3D printed in a silver PETG filament.
At the end of the day, it's just a matter of personal preference!
Can I use it with my Samsung phone?
At the moment, Samsung devices are unable to connect to the Wi-Fi signal from the Atom, and our team is actively investigating the cause.
In the meantime, you can continue to load files onto your Atom either by using our Windows software on a PC, or by inserting the SD card into the provided USB to SD reader and copying the preloaded .BIN files directly onto the SD.
How do I load your holograms?
Upon purchasing the Pixel Arc Atom, you'll be presented with a lifetime access link to download all of our custom made holograms, perfectly optimized for the Pixel Arc Displays. The archive will also be updated regularly with new 3D animations for you to try out!
Once downloaded you can either drop them straight onto the SD card or upload them via the mobile app.
What is PPI?
PPI stands for Pixels Per Inch, which refers to the number of LED beads per inch. Each LED bead contributes to the overall resolution of the display, since the image is formed from individual points of light. The smaller the LEDs are, the more can be packed into a given space, resulting in a higher PPI. A higher PPI means more LED beads within the same size, producing sharper, clearer images and making the rings around the display less noticeable.
